Summary
Blaise McCarthy is the most famous anchor on morning primetime news and a legend in her field. But in order to rise to the top, she had to make one of the most difficult decisions of her life-to place her blind daughter, Salima, in a year-round boarding school where they were better equipped to monitor her medical needs. When tragedy strikes, Salima is forced to move into Blaise's New York City apartment, where her surroundings are unfamiliar and even the most menial of tasks seems impossible. While Blaise is ill prepared to welcome a teenager into her life, both she and Salima must also learn to contend with a new caretaker who has little patience for how others have indulged Salima's handicap. Despite Blaise's reservations, she can't deny that Salima seems to be blossoming under Simon's supervision, while his movie star looks and attempts at real friendship become increasingly difficult to ignore. Time will tell if he might be just the thing to help both Blaise and Salima realize the true meaning of happiness-giving Salima the skills and confidence she needs to embrace her inner greatness, and Blaise, the love and family she has spent so long convincing herself that she could live without
