Summary

The south east Asian countries of Thailand and Malaysia have long been major destinations on the backpacking route. Their lush tropical rainforests, glorious beaches and remote tropical islands are now attracting more mainstream travelers. Laos however remains the forgotten jewel of the South East; it is dreamily remote and unspoilt by tourism.
